গাড়ি ধাক্কায় কুষ্টিয়ায় ইসলামী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্র তৌহিদুর রহমান টিটু নামে এক ছাত্রের মৃত্যু হয়েছে। আজ রোববার বেলা ১২টার দিকে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রধান ফটকে এ মর্মান্তিক ঘটনা ঘটে।

 । এ ঘটনাকে কেন্দ্র করে বিক্ষোভে ফুসে উঠে সাধারণ শিক্ষার্থীরা। ক্যাম্পাসের প্রায় সব বাসে আগুন দিয়েছে তারা। প্রশাসন ভবনসহ প্রায় সব ভবনে ব্যাপক ভাঙচুর চালানো হয়েছে। ভাঙচুরের ঘটনায় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রায় ৩০ কোটি টাকা ক্ষতির আশঙ্কা করা হচ্ছে।   । এ সময় অর্ধশতাধিক শিক্ষার্থী আহত হন।

ক্যাম্পাস অনির্দিষ্টকালের জন্য বন্ধ ঘোষণা করেছে প্রশাসন। প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী সুত্রে জানা গেছে, আজ রোববার বেলা ১২টার দিকে ইসলামী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বায়োটেকনোলজি অ্যান্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং বিভাগের ছাত্র তৌহিদুর রহমান টিটু ক্যাম্পাসের ঝিনাইদহগামী রাজমটর পরিবহনের একটি বাসে উঠার চেষ্টা করেন। চালক হঠাৎ বাসটি দ্রুত চালালে তিনি উঠতে ব্যর্থ হন। এ সময় পেছন থেকে দ্রুতগামী ‘সাগর পরিবহন’ (ঝিনাইদহ-ব ১১-০০১) নামের একটি বাস তাকে চাপা দেয়। এতে গলা ছিড়ে ঘটনাস্থলেই নিহত হন তৌহিদ। তার বাড়ি ঝিনাইদহের মহেশপুর উপজেলার খালিশপুর গ্রামে।

  । তারা মেইন গেট ও কুষ্টিয়া-খুলনা মহাসড়ক অবরোধ করে গাড়ি ভাঙচুর শুরু করে। শিক্ষার্থী নিহতের খবর পুরো ক্যাম্পাসে ছড়িয়ে পড়লে সব শিক্ষার্থী এসে বিক্ষোভে যোগ দেয়। এতে পরিস্থিতি ভয়াবহ আকার ধারন করে। এদিকে নিহত টিটুর লাশ ক্যাম্পাসে প্রায় তিন ঘণ্টা পড়ে থাকলেও প্রক্টরের কোনো ভূমিকা না থাকায় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পাশের এলাকার বহিরাগতরা সুযোগ কাজে লাগিয়ে সাধারণ শিক্ষার্থীদের উস্কে দেয়। এতে সাধারণ শিক্ষার্থীরা মেইন গেটের পাশে থাকা ক্যাম্পাসের ভাড়া করা গাড়িসহ মেডিক্যাল ভবনের পাশে বাসস্ট্যান্ডে থাকা বাসগুলোতেও আগুন দেয়। ফলে ক্যাম্পাসের ভাড়া করা প্রায় ৩০টি বাস (সব বাস) পুড়ে যায়।

 এছাড়া কিছু বাস বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভিসির বাংলোর ভিতরে ঢুকানো হলে সেগুলো অক্ষত থাকে। এক পর্যায়ে শিক্ষার্থীর ক্যাম্পাসের প্রশাসন ভবন, বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি ভবন, অনুষদ ভবন, আইন অনুষদ, কেন্দ্রীয় লাইব্রেরি ভবন, টিএসসিসহ প্রায় সব ভবনে ভাঙচুর চালায়। পরে তারা লাঠিসোটা নিয়ে ক্যাম্পাসে ও কুষ্টিয়া-খুলনা মহাসড়কে বিক্ষোভ মিছিল করে। বিক্ষোভ চলাকালে পৌনে ২টার দিকে শিক্ষার্থীরা আবারো ভাঙচুরের চেষ্টা চালালে পরিস্থিতি অন্যদিকে মোড় নেয়। পুলিশ এসময় পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনার চেষ্টা চালালে পুলিশের সাথে শিক্ষার্থীদের দফায় দফায় ব্যপক সংঘর্ষ বাঁধে। পুলিশ শিক্ষাথীদের উপর রাবার বুলেট ও টেয়ারশেল নিক্ষেপ করে। এক পর্যায়ে পুলিশ সাধারণ শিক্ষার্থীদের উপর গুলি, রাবার বুলেট নিক্ষেপ ও লাঠিচার্জ শুরু করে।  


   এসময় সজল, আকাশ, মিথুন, নাইম, তৌহিদ, জহির ও মেহেদিসহ ৩০ জনেরও বেশি শিক্ষার্থী আহত হন। তাদের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মেডিক্যালে প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসা দেয়া হয়। এছাড়াও সজল নামের এক শিক্ষার্থীকে পুলিশ ধরে নিয়ে হাত ও পা ভেঙে দেয়। পরিবহন প্রশাসক অধ্যাপক ড. মামুনুর রহমান বলেন, বিুব্ধ ছাত্ররা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের নিজস্ব ও ভাড়া করা ৩০টি গাড়িতে আগুন দিয়েছে এবং ১০টি গাড়িতে ব্যাপক ভাঙচুর চালিয়েছে।

 ইবি থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তার (ওসি) কাছে গুলি ছোড়ার বিষয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে তিনি বলেন, পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনতে ২০ রাউন্ড টিয়ারশেল নিক্ষেপ করা হয়েছে। সংঘর্ষে পাঁচ পুলিশ সদস্য আহত হয়েছেন। বায়োটেকনোলজি অ্যান্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং বিভাগের সভাপতি প্রফেসর ড. আনোয়ারুল হক বলেন, টিটু আমার খুব প্রিয় ও মেধাবী ছাত্র ছিলো। সে এভাবে আমাদের কাঁদিয়ে চলে যাবে কখনো কল্পনাও করতে পারিনি। তার মৃত্যুতে আমরা বাকরুদ্ধ। তিনি বলেন, ক্যাম্পাসের ভাড়া করা প্রায় প্রতিটি বাসের চালাকসহ হেলপাররা খুবই রুঢ় স্বভাবের। তারা শিক্ষক-শিক্ষার্থী কাউকে পাত্তা দেয় না। ক্যাম্পাস সুষ্ঠুভাবে চালানোর জন্য নিজস্ব বাসের বিকল্প নেই বলেও মন্তব্য করেন তিনি। তার প্রিয় ছাত্রের নিহতের ঘটনায় জড়িতদের দৃষ্টান্তমূলক শাস্তির ব্যবস্থা করার জোর দাবি জানান তিনি। এদিকে এ ঘটনাকে কেন্দ্র করে সিন্ডিকেটে জরুরি সভায় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় অনির্দিষ্টকালের জন্য বন্ধ ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে। ছাত্রদের আজ সন্ধ্যা ৬টার মধ্যে ও ছাত্রীদের আগামীকাল সকাল ১০টার মধ্যে হল ছাড়ার নির্দেশ দেয়া হয়েছে। প্রো-ভিসি প্রফেসর ড. মো. শাহিনুর রহমান বলেন, আমরা শোকাহত।

কিন্তু কোনো কিছু বুঝে উঠার আগেই বহিরাগতরা শিক্ষার্থীদের আন্দোলন দখলে নেয় বলে জেনেছি। বহিরাগত সন্ত্রাসীরা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়কে ধ্বংসের জন্য শিক্ষার্থীদের আন্দোলনকে ভিন্ন খাতে প্রবাহিত করার চেষ্টা চালিয়েছে। আমরা বিষয়গুলো কঠোরভাবে খতিয়ে দেখবো এবং শাস্তির ব্যাবস্থা করব। এ ব্যাপারে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ভিসি প্রফেসর ড. আবদুল হাকিম সরকার বলেন, অনাকাঙ্খিত এ ঘটনায় যে পরিস্থিতি দাঁড়িয়েছে তাতে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় খোলা রাখা সম্ভব নয়।

The divers of Bangladesh Navy could manage to locate the sunken fishing vessel FV Bandhan this morning, around 32 hours after the vessel was capsized in the Bay on Friday early hours.

. BNS Adamya through its side scanner SONAR found several images of an object similar to the sunken vessel at around 9:00am, said Commander Shamim Md Khan,

 in-charge of Navy Intelligence (Chittagong zone). After getting under-water images,
problems for diving mainly for huge depth of sea and the high and low tides, said the Commander.


, said a Navy official preferring anonymity, adding that the vessel was found tilted on the right side around 1000 metre off the accident spot. The divers managed to hook on the sunken vessel with a rope so that they could easily reach there next time,

An Egyptian court is expected to deliver its verdict in the retrial of ousted President Hosni Mubarak on charges of conspiring in the killing of protesters during the 2011 uprising.

Last year, an appeals court overturned an initial life sentence given to Mubarak in 2012 on technical grounds.

The 86-year-old denies all the charges against him.

In 2012, Mubarak - along with former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly - was sentenced to life in prison in 2012 for complicity in the deaths of demonstrators during the 2011 revolt that eventually forced him to resign.

But in January 2013 the Court of Cassation upheld an appeal by the two men against their convictions on technical grounds and ordered a retrial.

House arrest

In August, a court ordered Mubarak's release from prison and transfer to a military hospital in Cairo, where he is being held under house arrest.

Mubarak's Islamist successor Mohamed Morsi lasted only a year in power following elections before being ousted by the military in July 2013.

The move followed four days of mass anti-government protests and Mr Morsi's rejection of an ultimatum from the generals to resolve Egypt's worst political crisis since the 2011 upheaval.

The former army chief, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, was later elected as the country's new president.

In a separate development on Friday, at least two demonstrators died in clashes between Islamist protestors and police in the capital Cairo.

The protests were called by an ultra-conservative Salafi group, which opposed the overthrow of Mr Morsi.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani premier Nawaz Sharif shook hands and met briefly during the retreat at the Saarc summit yesterday, a day after Modi conspicuously avoided Sharif while he met five other South Asian leaders here.
 "Yes, they have met and shook hands at the retreat," Nepal Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey said over phone from Dhulikhel, where the retreat is being held on the second day of the two-day Saarc summit. Both the prime ministers have taken a tour in and around the resort which is famous for watching Himalayas. Leaders will spend almost five hours at the retreat.

 Nepal, the host country, is pushing for talks between India and Pakistan and at least a Saarc related energy accord. But a planned meeting between two South Asian leaders has not taken place. As of now,
 both leaders have not met separately at the retreat, but Nepal and other Saarc members are pushing them to sit for talks.
